Date: December 7, 2025-By: CN Canada News Desk : A powerful winter storm swept across Ontario and Quebec this weekend, bringing heavy snow, freezing rain and dangerous driving conditions. The system caused major travel delays, flight disruptions and widespread power outages across multiple regions.
Environment Canada issued winter storm warnings for Toronto, Mississauga, Brampton, Hamilton, Ottawa and Montreal. Snowfall totals in parts of Southern Ontario reached 20–30 cm, with strong winds reducing visibility on major highways. Toronto Pearson International Airport saw dozens of delays and cancellations, while road crews worked continuously to clear highways like the 401 and QEW. Police urged residents to avoid non-essential travel as icy roads led to several collisions. Hydro companies reported thousands of customers without power, especially in rural areas. Cleanup efforts are expected to continue into early next week. Authorities are asking residents to stay prepared for another wave of cold air expected later in the week.
