TORONTO – The Toronto Police Service is seeking public assistance following two suspected arson cases that occurred at restaurants in the Lawrence Avenue East and Kennedy Road area of Scarborough.
The first incident took place on Friday, May 23, 2025, at approximately 2:47 a.m. Police responded to a fire at a restaurant where three masked male suspects allegedly broke in, poured accelerant inside the premises, and set the fire before fleeing. Employees inside were able to escape safely, and no injuries were reported.
Less than 24 hours later, on Saturday, May 24, 2025, at around 3:38 a.m., a second fire was reported at a different restaurant in the same area. Two masked male suspects were observed entering the establishment, again pouring accelerant and igniting the fire. The suspects fled the scene in a vehicle, but fortunately, the restaurant was unoccupied at the time, and there were no injuries.
Toronto police have released images of the suspects and the vehicle connected to the second fire. The suspects are described as male, with thin builds, wearing dark-coloured clothing. The suspect vehicle is believed to be a silver SUV, possibly a Honda CRV, with a purple light on the driver’s side of the dashboard.
Authorities believe the two incidents are related and are being investigated as suspected arson.
