Karandeep: MISSISSAUGA, ON – April 25, 2025 : In a solemn appeal to the public and immigrant communities across Canada, Peel Regional Police, in partnership with the Be On The Lookout (BOLO) Program, are urging anyone with information to come forward in the search for Dharam Dhaliwal, a 32-year-old man wanted for First Degree Murder.

Dhaliwal, described as a South Asian male, 5’7” tall and weighing approximately 165 lbs, is considered armed and dangerous. He has black hair, brown eyes, and tattoos on his left hand and forearm. He may also have black facial hair. A Canada-wide warrant has been issued following the tragic fatal shooting of 21-year-old Pawanpreet Kaur in December 2022 at a Mississauga gas station.

This case has now drawn national attention after the BOLO Program listed Dhaliwal among the Top 25 Most Wanted in Canada. A reward of up to $50,000 is being offered for information leading to his arrest, valid until June 3, 2025.

“Canada has long been recognized as one of the safest and most welcoming countries in the world. However, isolated yet serious acts of violence, such as this one, risk damaging the reputation and trust our communities have built over decades,” said Peel Regional Police in a public statement.

A Message to the Community: Protecting Canada’s Values Begins With Us

This tragic incident and the ensuing manhunt come as a stark reminder to all residents, especially newcomers and immigrants, about the responsibility that comes with living in Canada. Our nation is founded on values of peace, respect, and shared dignity — and it’s up to every one of us to uphold those principles.

The actions of a few individuals must not overshadow the vast majority of law-abiding, hardworking immigrants who contribute positively to this country every day. But neither can we afford silence when faced with injustice or wrongdoing from within.

We urge members of the community, particularly those in the South Asian diaspora, to take this moment seriously — not only as a matter of justice, but as a testament to the values we stand for.
